Our
Story

Temple of Yoga was founded by husband and wife team Eddie and Ayesha, both dedicated spiritual seekers and lifelong students of yoga. Their commitment to the practice and deep desire to share these life-changing teachings have brought Temple of Yoga to life as a space for all to explore, connect, and grow.

Rooted in the traditional values of ahimsa (non-violence) and satya (truthfulness), the studio is inspired by the teachings of their main teacher, Sri Dharma Mittra. His Hatha Raja yoga emphasises compassion and kindness as the foundation of a yogic life. Here, yoga is not only a physical practice but a journey inward, where self-awareness and mindful presence guide each class.

Our classes are designed to be joyful and immersive, incorporating mantra and sound to enhance the experience. While the practice can be strong and physically invigorating, the emphasis remains on the inner journey and cultivating self-awareness. Temple of Yoga offers classes for all levels—from beginners to advanced practitioners— providing an inclusive space where each individual can explore yoga at their own pace.

In addition to individual growth, we foster a community spirit, welcoming everyone to share in this journey. We invite you to join our community and experience the transformative power of yoga, discovering a more balanced, compassionate, and authentic way of life.

Meet the Team

We are a small but perfectly formed team right now as we are getting off the ground. We have quite different teaching styles despite both being students of the same wonderful teacher Sri Dharma Mittra.

We hope to be able to add more classes and teachers in the future. If you feel you could bring something to our team we would love to hear from you

Studio co-founder & yoga teacher

Ayesha Ali

Ayesha's yoga journey began 25 years ago when she took her first yoga class as a young teen. She began a regular practice after her first trip to India in 2007 and eventually completed her first teacher training in Vinyasa Flow in 2014.

Since then she has completed advanced trainings in Hatha and Dharma Yoga in addition to specialist trainings in Restorative, and pre- and post-natal yoga. Her primary teacher is Sri Dharma Mittra, student of Swami Kailashananda, with whom she has completed 700 hours of accredited training and countless more hours of study and practice. She is currently working towards her 1000 hour certificate with the Dharma Yoga Center.

Influenced by mysticism, tantra, and rooted in the Indian yoga tradition, her teaching reflects the depth and beauty of yoga in an authentic and respectful way. Her classes are designed to enliven the spirit through breath, movement, sound, and stillness, introducing students to philosophical concepts, mantra, and powerful tools that have supported her own journey.

When she’s not on the mat, Ayesha serves clients with massage, energy healing and Vedic astrology. She is also researching a PhD in Psychology focused on the role spirituality plays in meaning-making and identity.

Eddie Reeves | Temple of Yoga Studio | Yoga Classes in Banbury | Oxfordshire

Studio co-founder & yoga teacher

Eddie Reeves

Eddie went to his first yoga class in 2011. An inflexible office guy, he found it confronting and uncomfortable. Sore and stiff in the morning, he was determined never to go back!

Something deeper steadily drew Eddie back in and, after years of 'on and off' practice, he took the plunge in 2018 following a family bereavement and dedicated himself to a regular practice, intrigued to see what transformation it might bring.

A big believer that yoga is for everyone, Eddie adopts a supportive approach to the practice, encouraging students to be enquiring - without pushing - on the mat about what is possible for them in body and mind.

A keen student of Sanskrit and the scriptures, Eddie is especially drawn to the yogic concepts of 'perseverance' (Abhyāsa) and 'non-attachment' (Vairāgya) as vehicles for realising positive change on and off the mat.

Forever grateful to Sri Dharma Mittra for his teachings, Eddie is also researching a PhD on the philosophy of the Swiss mystic, Maurice Zundel, whose esoteric Catholicism draws on elements of Sufism, Buddhism and Hinduism.
